PS2 Singstar: Kara - you - okay?

Times are bad. Recession is haunting the festive season. Everyone's busy working hard to keep their ricebowl from harm and tightening their belts. No time & money to go out and have fun with friends whose KTVing outside? No problem. Singstar is here to save you.

Singstar has about 10+ titles like "Singstar Pop Hits", "Singstar 80s", "Singstar 90s", "Singstar Country", etc. I got this online at SGD 40 and it comes with two microphones and the game itself. Mine is the "Singstar Amped", which has about 30 rock songs by Audioslave, Foo Fighter, Radiohead, Fallout boy and many more.

Here's a closer look at the list of song titles.

The gameplay is simple. You sing along with the MTV like how you did in the KTV lounge. You don't have to sound like Nirvana to score in the game but you just need to get the right pitch. To make the game easier for user, it even has a pitch indicator to tell you how should you pitch your voice. ^_^
It comes with 2 player playing mode, so you get to choose either duel or duet mode.
For those american-idol-inspired dreamers, you can plug in PS2 Eyetoy and see yourself performing on set(TV set, that is).

The microphones connects to an adapter, where the adapter plugs to the PS2 via USB 2.0 cable.

Gaming afterthought:
This game is a must-have for all KTV-goers. It can a a great party game with family/friends, and you can even showdown a song or two with another player. However, the game itself may have limited song titles so it is advisable to grab a few more "Singstar" games for more genre coverage. Also, the microphones are a little bit soft, so you need to pump up the amps a little more.
Rating: 3.5/5.0

"MG" grade Sangokuden

These are some of the pictures taken at the Singapore comic & toy con'08 previously. The below were modification done by someone (sorry i have no idea who is it done by). Don't you wish they really 'MG'nized the sangokuden BB senshi to these forms? :D (Again, forgive me for my poor phototaking skill..)

Ryubi Gundam (RX-78-2)- Great details overall, but isn't the head piece too big for him? Seems like they took it directly from the BB runner kit to fit onto its head. You can also see there's some putty on his palm to hold onto those huge swords.

Chou-hi Gundam (Zeta Gundam) - Favourite part of this modification would be the hand & leg knuckle guard gear. Was the weapon a modification of zeta's shield?

Kanu Gundam (Gundam Double Z) - One word. Spectacular. This is my favourite piece. The ornaments were done nicely and authentic hair were used as his beard. Just look at his massive weapon length. Sweet~

Sousou Gundam (Gundam DX) - Another one of my favourite. Probably a 1/100 Gundam DX were used to make this? The crimson mantle can be seen as his satellite system found in the actual Gundam X series.

Shiba I Sazabi - This is one giant at the display when standing with the rest. As you can see the intepretation were very detailed based on the BB kit. I remembered seeing one of these on a horse at some competition? Do let me know if you come across such pictures. ^_^

For now, let just put our hands together to pray for Bandai to mass-produce them.

SONY EYETOY: More than meets the eye

Yesterday I was around excelsior to look for this shop called robo robo by Desmond. I was hoping to find some goodies over there but by the time i reached there at 8:15pm, they were already closed :(

I took the opportunity to roam around Funan Mall to look for some good'old PS2 title and i came across this gadget.

The EYETOY is a peripheral device to be connected to the PS2 and it acts as a camera. Some may wonder what does connecting a camera do any good to a console when you use the controller to play. Well in this case you don't, since you become the controller~!!

What happens is the camera captures your image on the TV and the sensor on the camera detects your motion and carrys out the action. It's kinda of Nintendo Wii w/o the controller at your hands.

As you can see from the back of the game(apologies for the reflection due to the flash), it contains up to 12 games and 75 bonus games. If this were to be bought 5 years ago, it would probably be around USD80 to USD100. I got this for SGD39.99, what a steal~!!

It comes with the camera and the game title.

A closer look at the camera, roughly the size of my palm.

Runs on USB port. I heard it goes with game title such as singstar w/ mic. I have pre-ordered it online and hope it should arrive by next week. ^_^

On the left is the light sensor. It will blink red when the light in the room is insufficient. On the right is the motion sensor. The camera in the centre even comes with a manual zoom if your image is blurry. Cool~ @_@

A closer image at some of the games included.

Gaming afterthought:

i considered this as a cheaper alternative to Ninetendo Wii. You can to become a rockstar by strumming guitar or playing the drum, a chef that runs a fast-food restaurant and even a goalie to save penalties! It can be pretty silly to do all those actions alone in front of the TV and can be really tiring after swinging your arms like a mad monkey. So why not invite few friends or family members (up to 4 players) to join in the silliness and it'll definitely be great fun to laugh at one another. It can function as a form of workout regime if you have game titles like EYETOY Kinetic that is solely catered for the EYETOY gadget.

Overall, it's a 3.5/5.0 for the fun it provides for the groupies.

p.s. - When playing this game in the living room or bedroom, pls close all curtains so as to prevent the neighbours from getting alarmed and ended up calling the police. ^_^

S.I.C. : Kamen Rider The Next - V3

If any of the readers got excited over the piece, I'm sorry coz it's not on sale. This is actually a modification done beautifully by "killing-monkey". They've done quite a handful of modified S.I.C. and I must say they are all skillfully sculptured. Below are some pictures of V3.

Cool looking chest-plate.

The head design looks really beautiful in candy-red.

A closer look at the back of the head design.

The scarf really brings him to life.

Thank you, Killing Monkey, for your wonderful work. For more Kamen Rider pictures, click here for "Stronger", "S-1", and even "Kabuto".
Please Bandai, hope you can release an official piece of this to complete my "Kamen Rider" movie series. ^_^

Macross 7 - 1/100 Valkyrie VF-19 Kai

I was at Tiong Bahru Hobby Point looking for gunpla goodies and i found this rare treasure.

Most Macross model kit does not allows transformation. However, this one does! Cool~ -_-

It seems like there's other Macross model for this series.

VF-19 Kai is one of my favourite Macross since it has the most flamboyant colour and head design.

As you can see, it's one of the anniversary release kit.

A look inside. The blue box on the right is actually and box stand for the complete kit.

Colourful instruction manual.

Back of the instruction manual.

Even the box inside has imprint!

A closer look inside.

I can't wait to work on this baby. More review when this is done. ^_^
